About the session
“The winning organisation of the future will look more like a collection of jazz ensembles than a symphony orchestra” - John Clarkeson
The idea of “Jazz Leadership” has slowly been introduced in various organisations. It has influenced, and has become an integral part in popular management subjects such as adaptive strategy, ambidextrous leadership, agility, scrum and holacracy, amongst others.
The jazz band leader’s ability to coordinate an independently performing group of musicians, with little or no explicit direction, but who collectively create a synchronised and coherent musical piece, could appear to be “magic”, but it is based on 5 key leadership skills: Mastery, Autonomy, Guidance, Improvisation, Connection – “Magic”
In these changing times, where uncertainty is the new norm, Jazz Leadership and its magic components stimulate innovation, support autonomy and enable shared leadership, improvisation and clear communication.
So, how can jazz leadership guide your organisation into the next decade?
