About the session

A look at alternative forms of communication beyond the written word.

This session will demonstrate how visualisation techniques can lead to clearer problem definitions, greater understanding of requirements, better design, and simple visualisation of progress.

Drawing on real-life experience, the talk includes a combination of established drawing techniques, through to ad-hoc sketching. Communication is the key, a degree in UML is not required (nor should it ever be)

Participant takeaways:

  • Visually representing a problem gives more understanding to more folks, quicker
  • Diagramming isn’t only for the engineering teams, and the lack of understanding of the real business problem
  • Visualisation enforces best practices for design
  • A more accurate, and informative approach to tasking

Themes:

Productivity, Communication, Design, Quality, Visibility
